In a recent Facebook thread about chicken and sex (Who knew the two would go together so easily?) a friend of mine offered this:
Tripp, you know me. I'm VEHEMENTLY supportive of gay rights. However, it would warm my heart if I saw a any Christian owned company actually close their doors on a Sunday in observance of the Sabbath. There's too much politically inflamatory Christian rhetoric going around these days. I talk to unchurched people and all they know about us is our politics - they don't know a damn thing about Jesus except for what they learn on South Park. It would be wonderful to just see people living out their faith in a way that showed the world that the traditions of our religion are more important than making a few extra bucks. It would go a long way to actually furthering our liberal agenda of proving that we're not all bigots and hypocrites. ~ Zeke
I'm still mulling it over, but it pretty well sums up much of what I've been thinking lately. Justice is a practice. Keeping the Sabbath is a practice. One does not have to choose between the two.
